WASHINGTON, DC – Today, SKDKnickerbocker (SKDK) announced that veteran communications strategist Derrick Plummer has joined the firm as a senior vice president in its public affairs division. Plummer’s dynamic background includes years of experience in public affairs, crisis communications, political engagement, and media relations.

proven record of delivering superior results for his causes and clients,”

Plummer
served as a senior aide in the Obama Administration at HUD; provided strategic
communications counsel to Fortune 500 companies; worked on labor disputes at
the United Food and Commercial Workers Union International; and held senior
press positions for Congresswoman Gwen Moore, the Democratic National Committee
and the Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign.

Derrick Plummer:
Before
joining SKDKnickerbocker, Derrick was a senior executive at other agencies
where his client work included providing strategic counsel and communications
support for companies including Delta, Nissan, Krispy Kreme, Under Armour,
Arby’s, Barilla, Universal Health Services, Boston Consulting Group, and
MailChimp.
Previously,
Derrick served as assistant communications director for the United Food and
Commercial Workers Union International (UFCW), providing strategic counsel on
issues related to labor disputes in the retail sector. He has served as press
secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development during the
first term of the Obama Administration, where he oversaw the agency’s press and
media outreach, including the historic $25 billion mortgage servicing
settlement agreement.
His
political work includes serving on the Kerry/Edwards 2004 presidential
campaign, as a regional press secretary and director of African American media
affairs for the Democratic National Committee, and as communications director
for Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-WI).
Derrick
holds a B.A. in Political Science from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and a
Master of Business Administration from Howard University. He lives in Maryland
with his wife and daughter.
