Will Whitmire is a strategic communications advisor who helps higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, public interest groups, and corporate clients craft compelling messages and share their impact with key audiences. With deep expertise in public affairs, messaging strategy, and reputation management, Will works closely with higher education administrators, C-suite executives, and nonprofit leaders to navigate complex communications challenges and position their organizations for success.
At SKDK, Will develops and executes strategic communication plans that elevate his clients’ voices, shape public narratives, and drive meaningful engagement. He provides counsel on media strategy, crisis response, and thought leadership, ensuring that organizations effectively communicate their mission, values, and contributions to the public. His work spans issues ranging from education and economic justice to corporate responsibility and social impact.
Prior to joining SKDK, Will served as Deputy Communications Director at Patriotic Millionaires, where he led advocacy communications focused on economic justice and political representation. He also worked at the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, and in the Florida Senate as a legislative assistant.
A native Floridian, Will has a deep appreciation for sunshine, the beach, and outdoor activities. An avid sports fan, he proudly roots for all teams from the 305. He holds a master’s degree in public relations and corporate communications from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida State University.
