Alexandria “Lexi” Smith brings a dynamic background in political leadership, policy research, strategic communications, and civic engagement to SKDK. A recent graduate of Wake Forest University, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Affairs and Sociology, building a strong record of connecting institutions, policymakers, and the communities they serve.
Most recently, Lexi served in the Office of Congressman Gregory Meeks (NY-05) through the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, where she drafted press materials, developed policy memoranda, and engaged with constituents, advocacy organizations, and stakeholders on issues related to financial services and foreign affairs.
During her time at Wake Forest, Lexi served as the sole Student Trustee, as a student voting member of the Board of Trustees and was selected to serve on the University’s 15th Presidential Search Committee; two distinguished leadership roles that reflect her ability to collaborate, build consensus, and contribute at the highest levels of institutional decision-making. She also co-led gender equity initiatives through the Women’s Center, advancing programs and advocacy efforts that supported women across campus.
In addition to her professional and academic experience, Lexi is founding a nonprofit organization focused on empowering young women through community service, leadership development, and scholarship opportunities.
A Westchester County, New York native, Lexi is passionate about building meaningful relationships, fostering collaboration, and creating impactful solutions through partnership and public engagement.
