Kanter to bring expertise in strategic communications, advocacy, and emerging technologies to the firm

New York, NY – Today, SKDK announced that Beth Kanter has joined the firm as an Executive Vice President. Kanter brings more than two decades of experience in strategic communications, public affairs, and coalition building to her new role, where she will work with the firm’s philanthropic, nonprofit, advocacy, and corporate clients.

“Beth has a proven ability to translate complex policy issues into persuasive and impactful narratives,” said SKDK CEO Doug Thornell. “Her talent for uniting diverse stakeholders and driving meaningful advocacy campaigns has defined her career to date. We are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”

Prior to joining SKDK, Kanter served as the Chief Advocacy & Strategic Communications Officer at Omidyar Network, where she played a pivotal role in shaping discourse around emerging technologies and economic systems. She also held leadership positions at a strategic communications and advocacy firm, where as Chief Strategy Officer, she advised leading philanthropic organizations and nonprofits, including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Community Change, Demos, and the Aspen Institute.

Kanter spent a decade in Chicago, where she helped unions and healthcare organizations navigate high-stakes public debates with stints as the Chicago Federation of Labor’s first Political Director, SVP of External Affairs at Planned Parenthood of Illinois, and at a public affairs firm.

“SKDK has a reputation for shaping conversations that move policy and win existential fights,” said Kanter. “I’m excited to join the team and leverage my experience to help clients cut through the noise, build coalitions, and drive results that matter to their stakeholders.”
