Marcela Salazar, Ben Geldon and Emma Shapiro Join Public Affairs Team at SKDKnickerbocker

Today, SKDKnickerbocker (SKDK), announced that veteran producers Marcela Salazar and Ben Geldon, as well as communications specialist Emma Shapiro, have joined the Washington-based public affairs team to support the firm’s corporate and non-profit clients.

“No one knows the news and media business better than Marcela and Ben. They bring years of experience covering the most important issues of the day” said Hilary Rosen, managing director of SKDK. “Marcela’s background in television along with her experience tackling diversity issues and building coalitions, Ben’s background in finance and economics and Emma’s diverse policy-based experience will be a strong addition to our corporate and advocacy practice.”

Marcela joins SKDK as a senior vice president. She brings a robust set of experiences to the firm. She spent 10 years in broadcast journalism at both CNN and Univision as an Emmy-nominated producer and Peabody Award winner in both 2011 and 2013. Marcela also served a senior press advisor to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Ben joins SKDK as a vice president after spending nearly fifteen years as a television producer, most recently at Bloomberg Television. He oversaw programs including “Market Makers with Erik Schatzker & Stephanie Ruhle” and “Money & Politics with Peter Cook.” Ben also helped lead the network’s D.C.-based coverage of the financial crisis in 2008. Prior to Bloomberg, Ben worked at both CNN and the AP. Ben has produced interviews with some of the world’s leading newsmakers, including heads of state, CEOs and top lawmakers.

Emma joins SKDK as a senior associate after serving as a communications manager on national and state-based advocacy campaigns at the Center for American Progress.
