BuzzFeed congressional reporter Kate Nocera is leaving journalism to join the progressive public relations firm SKDKnickerbocker.
“Nocera will help lead communications efforts on behalf of SKDK’s advocacy, nonprofit and corporate clients,” the firm announced in a press release on Tuesday. Nocera will be based in Washington. SKDK has also hired PR veterans Jaclyn Rothenberg and Maureen Shanahan in New York.
Nocera, a former colleague, previously served as a congressional reporter and health care reporter at POLITICO. In 2014, she was awarded the National Press Foundation’s Dirksen Award for Distinguished Coverage of Congress. She is the daughter of New York Times columnist Joe Nocera.
“We are thrilled that Kate, Jaclyn and Maureen are joining our world-class team,” SKDK managing director Hilary Rosen said in a statement. “Kate’s unique experience as a reporter covering health care, Congress and politics combined with Maureen’s deep political and corporate experience and Jaclyn’s digital and public affairs expertise will be great assets to our corporate and advocacy clients.”
