Multi-talented strategist and former top aide at DGA and Clinton Campaign will lead SKDK’s Political Division

WASHINGTON —Today, SKDKnickerbocker (SKDK) announced that Oren Shur, former Director of Paid Media at Hillary Clinton for America and Director of Independent Expenditure at the Democratic Governors Association, has joined the firm as Senior Vice President and Political Director. Oren will oversee the day-to-day management of the firm’s political department and will advise campaigns, candidates, independent expenditures and ballot measure initiatives. He joins the most talented and diverse team of strategists in the industry, including Bill Knapp, Jennifer Cunningham, Anita Dunn, Bill Burton, Doug Thornell, Greg Minoff, Julie Norton and Karen Olick.

“We’re really excited to have Oren on board,” said managing director Bill Knapp. “SKDK was born from the desire to provide our clients with best in class service and revolutionize political consulting and advertising – it’s in our D.N.A. Over the years, we’ve developed and recruited a group of well-respected, diverse and effective campaign operatives who have won campaigns across the country. With Oren joining the team, I’m confident that we’ll live up to the legacy we’ve created for ourselves and continue to do great work for our clients and on issues that matter.”

“Oren is one of the most creative and battle-tested strategists in the country,” said managing director Jennifer Cunningham. “As head of our Political Division, Oren will be leading our work for SKDK clients at every level of politics and in every corner of the country. His experience and talent will ensure that the firm’s track record remains second to none.”

Over the last 15 years, Oren has served as a top strategist on some of the most competitive campaigns, including high profile senate, gubernatorial and presidential contests. Most recently, Oren served as the Director of Paid Media for Hillary for America, where he oversaw the creative development and placement for all television, radio, direct mail, digital and newspaper ads in the primary and general elections. During the 2013-14 cycle, Oren was the Director of Independent Expenditures for the Democratic Governors Association, where he oversaw the committee’s largest ever IE program. In a difficult year for Democrats, the DGA-IE successfully helped defend incumbent governors in Connecticut and Colorado and elected new Democratic governors in Pennsylvania, Hawaii and Rhode Island. Prior to joining the DGA, Oren served as the Campaign Manager of Gov. Jay Nixon’s (D-MO) successful re-election campaign in 2012 and managed Lt. Gov. Diane Denish’s gubernatorial campaign in New Mexico in 2010. Oren also was communications director for Sen. Ben Cardin’s (D-MD) winning senate campaign and a campaign aide to former Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD).
