Mariel Sáez is a seasoned public affairs strategist with experience at the highest levels of government and a deep understanding of the media landscape that she brings to her work at SKDK. At the firm, she is co-lead of the Economic Policy Practice, working with clients on issues such as taxes, inflation, and antitrust. She leads major public affairs campaigns for her clients, and she has extensive experience running communications strategies for major events, including the surrogate booking operation for the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
Prior to joining SKDK, Mariel served as director of broadcast media on President Biden’s White House communications team. In that role, she acted as the Administration’s point person for major television networks and radio as the Biden-Harris White House navigated COVID-19, the economic recovery, and other key challenges. Before her role at the White House, she served as deputy communications director for the Presidential Inaugural Committee and on the communications team for the 2020 Biden-Harris presidential campaign.
Mariel spent over a decade working on Capitol Hill for House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer. She served in a variety of roles in his office, including deputy communications director and his national spokesperson on a wide range of issues before Congress, including the economy, appropriations, health care, and national security.
Originally from Maryland, Mariel earned a bachelor’s degree in economics at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
