Justin Goodman is an experienced and battle-tested public affairs and communications strategist specializing in high-stakes strategic, executive, and crisis communication. He comes to SKDK from the office of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), where he spent nearly a decade as a senior communications advisor to the senator and the Senate Democratic caucus, most recently serving as communications director. Punchbowl News described Justin as “the chief spokesman for every Senate battle in recent memory.”
At SKDK, Justin is an executive vice president in the firm’s D.C. public affairs practice, supporting the firm’s corporate, crisis communications, and public affairs clients.
As chief spokesman and top communications advisor for Leader Schumer, Justin oversaw a nearly 20-person communication team, managed high-stakes media engagements, and led the communications strategy for high-profile pieces of legislation during what has been described as the most productive legislative session in decades. This includes the Inflation Reduction Act, the CARES Act, and the American Rescue Plan.
Over his career, Justin has worked to secure favorable media coverage in major print and cable news outlets, developed viral digital content, and has prepared senators, congressmembers and White House officials for media appearances based on a fast-changing news cycle.
Before his time with Sen. Schumer, he managed press and communication in City Hall for then-New York City Council Speaker Christine C. Quinn and helped launch the inaugural domestic-focused Clinton Global Initiative meeting. Originally from New York, Justin earned a bachelor’s degree at SUNY Geneseo, where he competed on the track and field team. Justin lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife, daughter, son, and dog, Levon.
