Obama Speechwriter Stephen Krupin Returns to SKDKnickerbocker, will lead Executive Communications Practice

Strategist has served as top communications aide in the White House, State Department and U.S. Senate Leadership

WASHINGTON – SKDKnickerbocker (SKDK) announced today that Stephen Krupin has returned to the firm as senior vice president and director of executive communications after having served in the White House as a senior speechwriter to President Barack Obama. Krupin will lead the fast-growing practice that helps C-suite executives, elected officials and leaders of all sectors achieve their strategic objectives through persuasive storytelling, speeches and media interviews.

“We could not be more thrilled to welcome Stephen back to SKDK,” said managing director Anita Dunn. “As a speechwriter, media trainer, and communications strategist, Stephen knows how to frame a story and put it in compelling, relevant language. Executive communications skills are more important than they have ever been, and we are pleased that Stephen can bring the additional skills he gained in the White House to work for our clients now that he has returned.”

Krupin has coached and written for dozens of principals in politics, business, philanthropy and advocacy. Prior to serving in the White House and his first stint at SKDK, Krupin served as policy advisor and chief speechwriter to Secretary of State John Kerry, director of speechwriting on President Obama’s re-election campaign, and chief speechwriter and press secretary to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. He also served as a Florida press secretary on President Obama’s 2008 run, and in the writers’ room and media operation at three Democratic National Conventions.

Krupin is also an adjunct lecturer in public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, where he teaches speechwriting; has taught graduate-level courses at Georgetown, George Washington and American universities; and is a fellow at the Truman National Security Project.
